The 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System (CCS) - http://www.n4hccs.org/
The 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System is a collaborative
effort of 4-H youth development programs at land-grant universities
in 40 states. State 4-H Leaders are the Board of Directors.
A revolving Steering Committee consists of 12 state curriculum
and youth development specialists, plus representatives
fromt eh National 4-H Supply Service and Families, 4-H and
Nutrition Unit of CSREES/USDA.
The mission of CCS is to provide high quality experientially-based
curriculum products to 4-H and other non-formal national
youth development organizations. CCS strives to maintain
a self-funding, nationwide system for the development, production,
evaluation, marketing, training and distribution of 4-H
youth development curriculum products that enhances the
achievement of important youth development objectives. The
basic philosophy of CCS is that competitively priced, higher
quality curricula with greater impact on youth programs
nationwide will result from states combining talents and
sharing resources and ownership.
In 1999, 4HCCS offered 130 products, printed 680,000 copies
and had a gross income of over $1,000,000. Today, projects
that are currently in the development stage are: Leadership,
Spatial Literacy, and Personal Finance. Projects presently
under revision are Woodworking, Entomology, Wild Over Work,
Electric, and Aerospace.
