How to Evaluate Useful Environmental Education Programs

Volunteer leaders, academic faculty and specialists working in the 4-H Youth Development Program have a variety of resources available to them when programming in the areas of Environmental Education and Natural Resources.

A challenge surrounding the availability of all these resources is evaluating the materials and selecting the one most appropriate for your audience and your desired needs. Good curriculum materials utilized in the 4-H program should meet several nationally accepted guidelines for EE materials, be age appropriate, utilize the experiential learning model, and incorporate appropriate content.
