National 4-H
Camping Programs
Intensive 4-H camping experiences in natural
resource areas help youth understand the science associated
with forest/range/wetland/coastal ecosystems and the impact
of human activities. Camps are characterized by high adult/youth
ratios, multi-agency support and youth process skill development.
Youth develop an appreciation for the decisions that must
be made by professionals and elected officials responsible
for managing these systems. Youth will be better prepared
to make responsible and defensible decisions supporting
the sustainability of these ecosystems as a result of their
participation in these camps.
