There are numerous non-governmental organizations that provide environmental education programs. This listing names only a few.

American Forests - http://www.amfor.org

American Forests' mission is to help people improve the environment with trees and forests. The organization works to provide a sustainable future for forests - both urban and rural - through national and international tree planting, forest policy, urban forestry, and popular programs, such as The National Register of Big Trees and Famous & Historic Trees.
Izaak Walton League of America (IWLA) http://www.iwla.org
IWLA's mission is to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water and other natural resources of the United States and other areas. The IWLA helps to educate the public about natural resources and the enjoyment and use of these resources.

Keep American Beautiful Inc. - http://www.kab.org
Keep America Beautiful, Inc focuses on enabling local volunteers to acquire the skills, tools, and resources to work together in building more beautiful, more involved, and better quality communities. Focus is on litter prevention, beautification and community improvement, and minimization of the impact of waste on communities.

National Arbor Day Foundation is the world's largest tree-planting environmental organization. It provides support, materials, education, and organization for tree planting projects.

The National Tree Trust (NTT) - http://www.nationaltreetrust.org
NTT mobilizes volunteer groups, promotes public awareness, provides grants, and unites civic and corporate institutions in support of local tree planting and education projects throughout the United States. The mission of the National Tree Trust is to act as a catalyst for local volunteer groups in the growing, planting, and maintenance of trees in rural communities, urban areas, and along our nation's highways.

TNC's mission is to preserve the world's diverse plants, animals, and natural communities by protecting the habitats they need to survive. The Conservancy achieves this by purchasing the threatened land and waters that support these fragile ecosystems and endangered species.
